While the heavy hitters from the Cheltenham Festival are currently nursing their hangovers (and so are most of the punters), this Saturday, March 21, 2026, offers a sophisticated “digestif” of Jumps racing at Newbury, Kelso, and Bangor-on-Dee.

The Main Event: Saturday’s Top Rated
If you’re looking for the horse the handicappers are sweating over, look no further than Khrisma in the 14:10 at Kelso (Herring Queen Series Final). Currently sitting as a 5/4 favorite, she isn’t just “well-rated”; she’s practically the class valedictorian of the day.
However, for a bit more “meat on the bone” in terms of value:
• The “Weight-for-Ability” King: Heltenham in the 14:25 at Newbury. This horse loves this track like a local loves a pub with no queue. Even with a hefty rating, he’s a Class 2 specialist who thrives when the mud starts flying.
• The Northern Star: Hollygrove Cha Cha (13:00 Kelso) is the highest-rated mare on the card. She’s been on a steeper upward trajectory than a Silicon Valley startup, and the Listed status of this race means she’s here for the “Black Type,” not just the scenery.
A Quick Note for Flat Fans
If you were looking for the Lincoln Handicap (the big “ratings” race for Flat racing), that takes place next weekend at Doncaster. The early top-rated horse for that race is Eternal Force, currently a 6/1 favourite for trainer William Haggas.
The Hero Returns: Willie’s Wild Wednesday
The village of Leighlinbridge is likely still vibrating after Wednesday evening’s homecoming. Willie Mullins, who left Cheltenham with 8 winners and his 13th Leading Trainer title, paraded his “Green Team” through the streets.

The star of the show was undoubtedly Gaelic Warrior, the newly crowned Gold Cup king. After a week where Paul Townend proved he’s more machine than man, Willie was uncharacteristically emotional, admitting he hadn’t realized he’d topped the standings again until the dust settled. It was a “A Home for Heroes” in every sense, though we suspect the “dust” in Leighlinbridge was mostly comprised of celebratory Guinness foam.
The Insider View: Tomorrow’s “Quiet” Profits
Thursday, March 19
While everyone looks to the weekend, the real value often hides in the Thursday “bread and butter” meetings at Ludlow and Sedgefield.
• The “Sneaky” One: Keep an eye on Silver Hill in the 15:30 at Hereford. The Snowden yard has been clinical lately, and this 6-year-old is being whispered about as a “steer and go” job if the ground stays Good to Soft.
• The “Dark Horse”: At Ludlow (14:50), look for Noble Don. The whispers from the gallops suggest he’s significantly better than his last run suggests, the kind of horse that makes a Thursday afternoon feel like a Bank Holiday.
